Our customers are always to us by email, over the phone or by popping into our showroom, to ask us a wide range of questions related to fireworks. As you might expect, the majority of these are about our products as well as our wedding fireworks shows that are professionally designed However, we also get occasional odd and even odd-looking question that comes up.
A recent issue, which led to this piece, dealt with the best way to dispose of a lot of fireworks. Someone told us that they had found fireworks in an old lock-up that were not cleared of for more than ten years.
In the past we have looked at storing leftover fireworks in a safe manner. What can you do if, as a customer, you’ve discovered some old fireworks and want to dispose of them in a safe manner or perhaps you’ve had your own display in the past and have recently discovered an old fireworks stash which you’d completely forgotten about.
Old Fireworks Aren’t Important.
Just because your fireworks are old, it doesn’t mean that you must make any special arrangements in addition to the normal things you do when disposing of the fireworks.
What exactly does it mean to properly remove fireworks?
Just set them off!
Hey, why don’t you simply set off the fireworks you’ve just discovered? Fireworks aren’t a thing that will last forever and we’ve explained this in the past. Although there is a chance that your fireworks might not go off correctly or at all, you aren’t putting yourself at risk by trying. If the fireworks fail to ignite, it is true that you’ll need to leave them on the ground for approximately 24 hours to feel confident that they’re not alight and aren’t going to blow up in your face However, other than that you’re not going to have any other issues to worry about.

If you’re in a position where you don’t recognize the kind of fireworks, or if you’re not up with the most current firework laws and regulations in your country, you should check before setting them off.
The last thing you want is for your evening to get ruined or to be detained because you set off fireworks that are illegal without even realizing it!
If You Do Want to get rid of them
If you’re not a fireworks fan and you’ve just discovered your fireworks in the same way as our customer did, then you might decide to dispose of them safely. Although they could be disposed of in your regular garbage initially, you must render them inert by ‘drowning’ them. 48 hours in water will eliminate the explosive components and render them inert. Once you’re done, can place the fireworks in your rubbish, and the water should be poured onto your garden and not down the drain as it could contain nitrates or other pollutants. These won’t damage your plans, but they could even give you more nutrients to the fireworks.
Removal of Old Fireworks Safety
Whether you start fireworks with your old ones or even submerge them prior removal, be sure to stay protected while you do so.
