The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms across the North East.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday (May 26) will bring a chance of disruption and flooding to parts of northern England.
The warning is in place from 12pm to 8pm and covers all of County Durham and Darlington. As well as North Yorkshire and further north to Sunderland and Newcastle.
What to expect Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes There is a small chance that some communities become temporarily cut off by flooded roads Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost How long will they last? The yellow warning is in place from 12pm this afternoon and is expected to end by 8pm this evening.
