A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was involved in a crash with a bus while riding his bike on Tuesday (February 28)
The teenager is in critical condition after the road traffic collision on the Coast Road in Newcastle.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a road traffic collision in Newcastle which left a teenage boy seriously injured.

“At 7.35pm yesterday (Tuesday), police received a report of a collision involving a teenage boy on a bike and a bus on the Coast Road eastbound at the junction with Benfield Road.
“Emergency services attended and the 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries where he currently remains in a critical condition.
“The driver of the bus is assisting officers with their enquiries.”
The road was closed for about four hours before re-opening to traffic.

“They are particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage capturing what took place or the moments leading up to the collision.
