A charity shop in Tyne and Wear has relocated after more than a decade in its current location – and to help move their current stock, all items have been marked half off.
St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham has relocated its Houghton-le-Spring charity shop into a modern unit in Newbottle Street. The new unit is positioned over the road from the original shop which has been operating for over 13 years and is very popular with local shoppers.
The new shop has a new look – with modern white fittings, new flooring throughout, fresh paintwork and upgraded signage with improvements made to the working area for staff and volunteers.
Shop Managers, Dorothy Cummings & Margaret Forrest proudly opened the new shop with a celebratory ribbon cutting on Wednesday 26 July.

Dorothy said: “We’re so excited to open this new shop and we hope our customers love the upgrade. The original shop was looking a little sad and we felt that a refresh was needed. The timing worked out perfectly with the relocation and meant that we could open with a brand-new look!”
Margaret added: “St Cuthbert’s Hospice charity shop is such a big part of Houghton-le-Spring high street and we’re delighted to be staying in the area.
“We love chatting to the regulars who have continued to support us over the years, so it’s a huge bonus to us that they’ll still be able to shop with us.
